Altruistic people are generous and considerate of others. They are concerned with the well-being of the community and are willing to use their time, energy, and resources to help those in need.
Low scorers are less compelled to respond to the plights of others, and are reluctant to involve themselves in other people’s issues.
Altruism is Sympathy in action. While sympathetic people feel the suffering of others, altruistic people go a step further and take action to improve the situation.
Sympathy is a precondition to altruism. Altruistic people are almost always sympathetic, but sympathetic people are not necessarily altruistic.
